DAVID VILLA (EL GUAJE)
David Villa Sánchez (Tuilla, Oviedo, Asturias, Spain, December 3, 1981) is a Spanish footballer who plays in the forward position and now is part of the staff of FC Barcelona in the Primera Division in Spain.
Nicknamed El Guaje, his number in both the Spanish and in Barcelona is 7. He is a player that is characterized by its speed, mobility and eye for goal. It occupies the 13. Position in the ranking of the top scorers in league history with 161 goals in 288 appearances over his nine seasons in Primera.
He began his career playing in second division with Real Sporting de Gijón until, in 2003, was signed by Real Zaragoza team which became international. After two seasons at the club hand moved to Valencia CF, where he became the fifth leading scorer in League club after World Waldo, Kempes and Fernando.9 Enverano of 2010 ended up in the ranks of FC Barcelona.
With the Spanish team against San Marino debuted in 2005. He has since participated in three major tournaments: the 2006 World Cup, scoring three goals, the Euro 2008, which became champion of Europe and was top scorer with four goals, and the 2010 World Cup, where he won the world championship and was also the Silver Shoe as second top scorer with five goals tied to Thomas Müller, and the Bronze Ball as the third best player in the championship. It is also the top scorer of the team with 51 goals, and the Spanish top scorer in World Cups, with eight.
